Asst. Prof. Kuntal De
Kuntal is a Graduate of NID, specializing in Product Design in 1998; He started his career with NID as an associate designer and worked on projects in collaboration with DC(H), NCPDDP, NIVH and other institutions. Later he joined Taj Khazana and worked with handicraft sector. After a brief corporate experience with Tata, he was back at NID and worked on developing the Bamboo and cane Development Institute, Agartala, Srinagar Craft Development Institute. He also was involved in UNDP Fibre and Handicraft Impact Assessment and Evaluation as well as “Handmade in India: Handicrafts of India” He had been a faculty member at Dhirubhai Institute of Information and Communication
Technology, Gandhinagar, engaged in developing and operationalizing the MDes programme in Multimedia. Also was involved in developing MSc IT, Agriculture programme.

At NID he coordinated New Media and Strategic Design Management disciplines.
Kuntal has been working in a range of areas, from livelihood and youth forum facilitation to design for sustainable development. He had been a part of the shelter redesigning team; assigned to develop sustainable shelter for the aborigines (Onges) of Andamans after the tsunami. He is associated with Commonwealth of Learning (COL) for the last 11 years as an Education Consultant for livelihood and sustainable development. Amongst the organizations and institutions he has been associated with were: Oxfam International youth Partnership, Global Forum for Agricultural Research (FAO), Young Professionals for Agricultural Research & development (YPARD), IIT (Kanpur), ICRISAT and IIM Calcutta.
