Shaktiyogashram 14 Feb to 17 Feb 2007
Shaktiyogashram near Village Tailbela 32 Kms off Lonavla was the place for a peep into the Ashram experience for 100 students (undergraduate and postgraduate) and faculty members.
Learning happens in the Ashram developed in Gurukul mode, in the natural ambience.

All of us had a brief residential stay for 4 days and were part of a structured programme on appreciation of Indian culture through lecture demonstration of Indian Classical vocal music, Mohiniattam, Symbology and aesthetics of Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. We also experienced a musical ensemble – Taal Vaadhya Kacheri – a night long experience.
Early morning meditation, yoga and simple food, self service, volunteering work, trekking and nature exploration were also interwoven in the daily routine.
Following is the extract from what a student had to say on her Ashram experience:

I had only imagined how minimally life could be led, and felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to do so – taking a break from our deadline – dictated and material- obsessed world.

I spent 3 challenging yet rejuvenating days at the ashram learning to appreciate things I hardly ever gave a serious thought to – Meditation, Mythology, Electricity and Piped water!

However, what I liked best was practicing the principles of self-reliance and responsibility for all my actions, something I am learning to inculcate in better ways now.

Shakti Yoga Ashram , situated in the lap of the Sahyadri , gave me a chance to enjoy the virgin beauty of nature. The waking up in the early morning, the meditation and yoga sessions helped me get closer to our inner self. Another great experience was eating the food with our bare hands, while sitting on the floor, cross-legged. All these experiences brought me closer to our culture, which I seemed to have estranged. The trekking was like icing on the cake! .Thus the whole experience was not only spiritual and peaceful but also exciting and adventurous.
