Rajeev Surana of Scinnovation, Mumbai & his team and Satish Gokhale, Professional Industrial Designer & Director,Design Directions, Pune visited campus on May 9, 2008 to initiate a talk with MIT ID to involve design learners on real life projects. Scinnovations would be announcing suitable platform wherein innovator's idea is converted or extended into a “DESIGN” which is beyond just the concept. It would culminate into a working mock–up or prototype depending on the project. Scinnovations in-turn would be helping the innovator to market the product to some prospective investor / manufacturer.
Some of projects from the core course 'Simple Product Design' of UG and PG programme were presented by the respective learners to the visiting team. Through this forum, the young design learners got opportunity to present their ideas to the 'customers' and were able to respond to the queries fielded to them.
MIT ID Faculty team comprising of Prof Sanjay Jain, Director (Academics), Prof Dhimant Panchal, Head of Foundation, Prof Gaurang Shah, Head of Transportation also interacted with the visiting team to discuss various aspects on the revenue model, IPR issues and methods of working together.
Scinnovation will send detailed proposal on this to MIT ID to move ahead.
