The Dimension of the Plane - Communication Design in Germany

On November 15th 2010, the Exhibition "The Dimension of the Plane - Communication Design in Germany" was inaugurated at Bajaj Gallery by Mr. Michael Flucht, Director Max Mueller Bhavan, Mr.Anant Sardeshmukh, Executive Director General MCCIA, and Mr. Dilip Chhabria.
The exhibition shows in collaboration with MCCIA and MIT Institute of Design 150 examples from German communication designers as well as student works from MIT Institute of Design, Pune. The exhibited pieces are subdivided into the five main fields: corporate design, digital media, graphic design, wayfinding and signage systems and typography and give an overview of the full strength and scope of two-dimensional communication
design services. "The Dimension of the Plane" shows how the language of visual characters, symbols and images help people to guide through daily life.
The inauguration was followed by a panel discussion. Topic was: Aiming to make Pune a hub for design?

In connection with the exhibition Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune announced a competition for students of Pune’s design institutes for the creation of a “print product” and “wayfinding system”. The competition deadline is 10th January 2011.
