Alana Savant joined MITID in July 2014. She is an alumnus of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad; with a specialization in Textile Design in 1986. After graduation, she started the design practice with the textile industry, both in the private as well as in the public sector till 2000. After which, being driven by passion for teaching and research in design, she catapulted to design education and craft design. She calls herself a dreamer and a vagabond- the latter by fate and choice. Having travelled across the country, manifestation of Indian Craft Design has become her strength. Her work fuses the traditional techniques with modern styling.
She is an itinerant educator and has taught in various design institutes of the country. Apart from imparting knowledge, she strives to be a catalyst to inspire the best in young minds and nurturing them to be sensitive professionals.

Teamed and organized a National Seminar on Service Marketing in Design for Apeejay School for Design, Jallandhar.(Punjab).
Presented a paper on ‘Current Trends & Marketing Issues of Survival Craft’, for the above.
Researched and conducted a workshop on Natural Dyes of Ladakh.
Designed and scripted ‘Natural Dyes of Ladakh’, workshop documentation published by Ladakh Ecological Development Group, Ladakh.
