Harsha Shamnani is an architect. She has completed her Masters in Architecture (Theory and Design) from CEPT University in 2010.
She is aiming to have a balance in academics and practice.  She enjoys the energy of an academic institution and the connect with young minds.  At the same time she values the rigour that the field instills in a professional.
She has been involved with academics as well as in architectural practice. She believes that theory and practice go hand in hand for overall learning and growth of an individual. After pursuing Bachelors in architecture, she opted for the same model.Initially, she worked with a firm where she can apply her knowledgeand alongside she retained her association with academics as well.  She worked with

 

an architectural firm in Ahmedabad as Junior architect for 1 year, handled various projects from initial concept to further development.  She joined IPSA, Rajkot as a visiting faculty, and assisting senior faculty for the design courses. She also worked as a lecturer at the same school. Overall she is been associated with academics as a faculty for 2 years.


Regarding her practice, she has an experience of around 2.5years handling the different scales of projects.She has worked with architects in Ahmedabad as well as in Pune. She has handled various projects ranging from residences to institutions. In the whole process, she has dealt with working drawings, development of details, final selection of finishes & furnishings, etc.


Apart from her stint with academics and industry, she has also done research on the philosophy of architecture and curriculum with an architectural firm in Pune.


The translation of theoretical concepts into real experiential spaces and forms is her key exploration and passion. Apart from this, research fascinates her and helps her connect the dots and the relationship between different aspects of design. Research also helps her to realize and celebrate the diversity of a field as rich as architecture.
