Apurva Kochargaonkar- UG Product Design(2013)- Pursuing MA Design Strategy and Innovation at Brunnel University, UK
My experience at MITID has been amazing. The coursework prepared me to handle real world design challenges and helped me a lot in my stint at Lokus Design as a Packing Designer. Although during the course long hours spent in the studios, workshops and labs seemed tedious, I now realize they helped me cope the pressures of professional world. The holistic understanding of Design , problem solving skills and the agility that MITID imbibed in me has helped me become not only a well trained designer but a better person. To add to all this, my exchange program at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University was an excellent opportunity and provided me a global exposure.Wherever I am the life on MITID campus, the friends I made there and the support of the faculty will always be missed and cherished. It is an experience of a lifetime!
Sounak Purkayastha- UG- Transportation Design(2014)- Designer at General Motors, Bangalore
MITID provided me the much needed platform to start my career with one of the best automotive companies globally. The training and guidance by the faculty members helped me gain the required knowledge and skills during the program. The Training & Placement Dept. generously shared their expertise, experience and networking support required for my graduation project and my final placement. I strongly believe that it’s because of this I have been placed with a good company like General Motors.
I would also like to thank the T & P Dept. for their valuable time to guide me through all the processes and prepare me for the interviews. I'm glad to be part of the MITID family.
Tapan Aslot- Animation Design 2014- Animation Designer at Bombay Design House, Mumbai
Year 2009 fresh out of school I dreamed about design yet was unsure about the profession. Perception about design kept changing across years and still evolving. MITID helped me understand difference between education and learning. We learned beyond classroom and book and that is why learning ha never stopped. Over these five years MIT ID has been instrumental in providing me this great experience.
Kashyap Josyula- PG Transportation Design (2014) - Designer at Styling Design Division Honda R & D India PVT LTD., Gurgaon
It was my dream to become a Transportation Designer when I was 16. As a starting step I participated in a design competition when I was in college and won the 2nd prize in Mahindra NXG Concept design Contest. Before coming to MITID , I did my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Univ. of Pune to gain a sound understanding of technical aspects. My 2.5 years of learning at MIT Institute of design was indeed a fruitful experience. I developed my skills and interests in various fields of Transportation design. The Motorcycle design interest started with my first internship at ErgoDesign, Bangalore. Followed by Diploma Project with Tata Motors, I further learnt understanding different aspects of design in detail. All this learning and continuous support from the faculty members has contributed greatly to my professional career and helped me to start my career with a world-class organisation like Honda.
Manu Ambady- UG- Graphic Design (2014)- Designer at 22 Feet Tribal Worldwide, Bangalore
I joined MITID after completing my schooling in Thrissur, Kerala hoping to kickstart my design education. I did a twin- degree program at MITID where I got an opportunity to join the prestigious University of Northumbria (Newcastle). The design foundation program at MIT prepared me well to take up difficult briefs and come up with interesting solutions. At Northumbria I took up Image-making as my specialization and worked on wide variety of briefs that dealt with print and digital designs. As my graduation project at MITID I did a self-initiated project and created a series of illustrations based on the street vendors of Mumbai called "Lost In The Crowd". The illustrations got featured on Revolutionart International magazine and on online design blogs like Shellsuit Zombie and Masalachai. In the meantime I was interviewed by Creative Gaga magazine India and On July 2014 I joined the design team of 22 Feet Tribal Worldwide and have been working on projects for Fastrack, Cafe Coffee Day, etc.
Dhwanil Chudgar - PG Product Design (2014 Batch)- Industrial Designer at Design Flyover, Mumbai
MITID had been a very important part of my life. The institute has helped me learn and grow as a design professional. Without the guidance of the faculties, it wouldn't have been possible to succeed. The best thing of being in MITID is the freedom we got to learn, to think, and choose the problems that we can solve. This coupled with the other facilities on campus makes the learning seamless and facilitates the professional development. The Training and Placement cell of MITID has helped me to get opportunities with reputed organisations for my internship, graduation project and job. So all in all, I can say that MITID is a wonderful place to live and progress. No second thought guys..!! Cheers..!!
