Hashim Padiyath is an engineer turned graphic designer who earned his masters in Visual Communication from Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay in 1993. He started his professional career with C-DAC Gist, Pune developing the first original digital typefaces in Malayalam. Moving to Kerala, he worked with Malayala Manorama for a few years designing their publications and developing custom typefaces for them. In 1997 he setup Design Difference in Cochin offering design consultancy in type design, publication design, branding, signage, packaging, web design and more for clients far and near.

After nearly twenty years of varied professional practice and having designed over thirty typefaces in Malayalam which are being used by many publishing houses in Kerala, he wants to devote his time and energy to revitalise the typographic scene in India by training a new breed of type designers in all Indic scripts.

His other interests include trekking, gardening, organic farming and swimming.
