Mohammad Shahid has a diverse design background with a Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Textile Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Master of Design (M.Des) and PhD in Design, both from Department of Design, IIT Guwahati with core specialisation in Visual Communication/Graphic Design. His PhD thesis is based on understanding the visual vocabulary of the title design and its role in Bollywood movie posters. Throughout his academic carrier, he has won many awards and recognition for his works such as; Best paper award at International Conference on Creativity and Cognition in Art and Design (ICCCAD’17);

Best poster award, Poster Design Competition, Typography Day 2017, Sri Lanka; and Graduation show winner at NIFT Kolkata, 2008. He has designed the logo for National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Besides his educational distinctions, he has three years of industrial experience as a designer in a Delhi based textile firm where his key responsibilities were market research, exhibition design, visual merchandising and sample development for international buyers such as Cost Plus, Monoprix, Georgio Armani, Pennyblack etc.

His approach towards design education is to enrich new generation designers by wholesome design experience through a collaborative design approach. He believes that design education is not just confined to a classroom, but it is like an old tradition where one learns by becoming part of the surrounding environment inspired from nature and assisted by the individual imagination.
