Prof. Dr. Dandeswar Bisoyi is a creative technologist, educator, and designer specializing in the convergence of real-time technologies that are transforming design education and innovation. With more than two decades of experience in design education and research, he combines academic leadership, technological expertise, and creative practice to drive meaningful impact.
Drawing on his multidisciplinary expertise across design, technology, media, and communication, he has mentored undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. scholars, spearheaded academic programs, and conducted pioneering research in Information Design, UX & UI, Data Visualization, Visual Communication, and Digital Media etc.. His ability to integrate diverse disciplines allows him to bridge theory and practice, equipping learners to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of design and technology with clarity and confidence.
Prof. Bisoyi’s contributions to research and innovation have been recognized through prestigious international fellowships, publications in high-impact journals and conferences, and awards. He has also undertaken several national and international consultancy projects and filed patents, further extending the innovative impact of his work. He has played a pivotal role in advancing curriculum development and fostering academic innovation. His multidisciplinary approach to research and curriculum building integrates design methods, systems thinking, digital technologies, and human-centered perspectives—enabling the creation of programs that are future-focused, flexible, and industry-relevant.
Guided by a vision of integrating technology, design, and human-centered thinking, Prof. Bisoyi emphasizes critical inquiry, creative exploration, and hands-on learning in his teaching. His research continues to expand knowledge in design methods, visualization practices, and the application of emerging technologies. Passionate about institution building, he has been instrumental in designing innovative curricula, establishing research-driven ecosystems, and shaping academic programs that prepare students to become future-ready designers, researchers, and leaders.
Prior to his leadership role as Associate Dean, Prof. Bisoyi established the M.Des. in Information Design & Data Visualization program at MIT Institute of Design, MIT Art, Design & Technology University, Pune, where he also serves as Head of the discipline. Earlier, he was a faculty member at Amity University, Noida.
He earned his Ph.D. in Design from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in 2016.
