MIT Institute of Design facilitates student exchange with overseas partner institutions. Students from MITID and/or the partner university have the opportunity to study for 1 or 2 semesters at the host university by taking part in the exchange program. This enables the student to enhance their skills, experience international teaching methodology, understand advanced design thinking and learn about diverse cultures. Participating in a student exchange program is a way for the students to secure their career globally.

Outbound Student Exchange

(REVISED)The International student exchange programme is designed especially for the B.Des students of MITID to broaden their horizons, experience a new culture & gain new knowledge. This is the best opportunity for the students who wish to grow globally in design.

The exchange usually takes place in the 6th semester and lasts for 1 semester (about 6 months). Most importantly, the credits earned during your exchange are equated and accepted into the programme of your current study.

Selection Criteria:

1. Students with good academic record.

2. Students who have fulfilled the attendance requirement.

3. Portfolio.

After the exchange, you will need to complete a post-exchange report and arrange for your credit-transfer approval letter. In addition, you will also need to attend a sharing session, and most importantly, to be a peer advisor for our other outbound students in the future.

Fees & Other Expenses:

As an exchange student, you don’t need to pay additional tuition fee to your host institution. However, you need to continue paying your tuition fee at MITID. The fees paid at MITID are the tuition fees applicable for exchange. All other expenses besides tuition fee are to be borne by the student.

IMPORTANT POINTS FOR EXCHANGE TO FRANCE:-

The French Government has an arrangement with India for smooth student visa application process. Campus France is the platform available for these processes. All visa applications MUST go through Campus France. More details about the same can be procured from International Office at MITID.

Inbound Student Exchange

If you are a student at one of our partner institutions and wish to study at MITID for a short period, then the student exchange programme is the best option for you. This programme helps to broaden your view globally, experience a different learning methodology and an entirely different culture in a short time span. It is a great opportunity for International students to gain diverse knowledge from the Indian perspective and to make new friends.

Your exchange can last for 1 semester or 1 to 2 academic years, depending on the type of collaboration with the partner institution.

Student Exchange Method:

1. Interested students must contact the International Office at their university who will be responsible for introducing you to MITID.

2. The student must submit ALL the documents mentioned below to their exchange coordinators who will further forward them to International Office at MITID. (internationaloffice@mitid.edu.in.)

3. A senior panel at MITID will evaluate the students on the basis of their grades, overall performance and portfolio. The selected students will be notified by mail about their selection and will receive a Letter of Acceptance which is important for the visa application process.

The application process for the student exchange is given below:

1. Choose the desired programme you wish to apply for the exchange programme.
2. Complete your Application Form.
3. Prepare all the required documents (originals, attested photocopies and soft copies)
4. Prepare your Curriculum Vitae in English.
