Chaitanya Kachare is a Mechanical Engineer and Design Educator with over 25 years of combined industry and academic experience. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty in Industrial Product Design at MIT Institute of Design, Pune, where he teaches Product Design, Systems Design, Technical Product Design, Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA), Product Analysis and Mechanisms.
He holds an M. Tech. in Manufacturing Engineering & Automation from the prestigious College of Engineering Pune (COEP Technological University) and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune. Prior to academia, he worked with organizations including Dana Holding Corporation, Prime Technologies, Force Motors and Thermax, contributing to product development, automotive engineering, industrial automation and manufacturing.
His academic career spans over 17 years, with prior faculty positions at MIT Institute of Design and Symbiosis Institute of Design, where he has contributed to curriculum development, interdisciplinary design education and industry-oriented learning.
His interests include Product Design, Systems Design and Design Education. He has co-authored research papers presented at national conferences. He attended the Aalto Design Factory Boot Camp at Aalto University, Finland, focusing on interdisciplinary and project-based learning methodologies. He also contributed to the development of contest themes for International ABU Robocon 2008 and ABU Robocon 2014, showcasing Indian cultural and social contexts on an international platform. His professional recognitions include the ACE Teacher Award 2024 from Symbiosis International University and multiple Design Registrations.
He firmly believes that teaching students how to learn is more important than teaching them what to learn. Guided by this approach, he enjoys teaching, mentoring and continuously learning in a collaborative design environment.
