Prof. Binoj John brings over 25 years of diverse experience Industry as well as in design education, which is a blend of unique journey across textile, the arts, animation, computer graphics, and creative writing. This multidisciplinary knowledge gives a holistic approach in design education to understand and practice design.

He began his professional journey in 1998 within animation studios, contributing to major commercial animation, short films, games and various multimedia projects. The industryy experiences was strong foundation to work for real-world production workflows and creative collaboration. Before joining MIT Institute of Design, he worked as a Senior UX Designer, developing interactive applications and design solutions for leading global clients—bringing user-centered thinking and digital innovation into his academic practice.

Prof. Binoj has also been associated with the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, including the NID Post Graduate Campus, where he mentored students across various programs in both classroom and studio-based learning environments. Many of his students’ films have earned recognition at national and international film festivals. His association with PG program at NID-G in New Media Design, Information & Data Design, and Software Interface Design helped him to contribute in various interdisciplinary assignments. He also played a key role in establishing the Audio-Visual Lab at NID’s postgraduate campus, creating an ecosystem that enabled students to take projects seamlessly from concept to final production.

At MIT Institute of Design, he contributes significantly to curriculum development, academic planning, quality enhancement initiatives, and outreach programs. He works closely with both undergraduate and postgraduate students—guiding them through research, internships, and industry collaborations and redefining animation for future ready deliverables.

In recent years, he has been actively exploring the crossing of Artificial Intelligence and in design process. His interaction with AI as a creative collaborator—examining its role in storytelling, visual development, generative processes, and exploring new workflows in animation and media design. With a strong industry connect & a passion for emerging technologies that keeps him going and looking for avenues to engage with this unique medium. He believes Animation is for all to tell your own unique stories in their own unique way of drawing or any medium which moves audience emotions.
