Pratiksha Bankar is a seasoned educator, product designer, visual designer, and image-maker with over 11 years of experience in art, design, and education. She is an Assistant Professor in the M.Des. program for Information Design and Data Visualization at the MIT Institute of Design, Pune.
Her research centers on The Role of Metonymy in Product Form Ideation and Innovation: A Cognitive and Design Perspective. She investigates how metonymy can be systematically applied in the product design process to develop innovative forms and concepts that meet user expectations while enhancing brand identity. Additionally, her work on Metonymy in Cultural Contexts: How Cultural Differences Influence the Use and Interpretation of Metonymic Product Design seeks to bridge cognitive linguistics, cultural studies, and design. This research provides valuable insights for designers to create products that resonate across diverse cultural landscapes.

In teaching, Pratiksha specializes in user-centered design, packaging design, and sustainable product development, with a strong focus on incorporating nature-inspired principles into her curriculum and projects.
She holds an MBA in Marketing and a B.Des. in Product Design from Savitribai Phule Pune University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at MIT Art, Design & Technology University, Pune.
