Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming how products, services, systems, and societies are designed. Amid growing anxieties that AI will replace designers, this program begins by challenging that myth. AI will not replace designers—designers who understand and shape AI will lead the future.
The M.Des in AI-Enabled Design prepares designers to work confidently at the intersection of design, UX, interaction, data, and artificial intelligence. While most AI education remains engineering-centric, this program places design judgment, human values, and contextual intelligence at the center of AI-driven innovation.
Students are trained not merely to use AI tools, but to critically evaluate AI outputs, understand their limitations and biases, and design meaningful human–AI interactions. The program emphasizes responsible and ethical deployment of AI, with sensitivity to social, cultural, and Indian contexts.
Program Philosophy
The program adopts a Human + Machine Hybrid Design philosophy—moving beyond traditional human-centered design to explicitly design the relationship between people and intelligent systems. Designers are developed as orchestrators of adaptive, socio-technical systems, where human insight guides automation and intelligence.
AI is approached as a collaborator rather than a replacement, reinforcing the importance of design leadership, ethical reasoning, and systems thinking in an AI-enabled world.
“The M.Des in AI-Enabled Design doesn’t just teach students how to use AI — it teaches them how to lead, shape, and design the future with it.”
